Position Summary:

The HR Assistant Vice President (AVP) is a senior-level position within the human resources department of an organization. The AVP provides strategic direction, leadership, and support to the HR team, ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies, programs, and initiatives. They play a critical role in driving the organization's human capital strategy and fostering a positive work culture.
Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic HR Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives. Provide guidance and expertise on talent management, succession planning, employee engagement, and organizational development.
  2. HR Policies and Programs: Develop, implement, and update HR policies and programs in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ensure consistency and fairness in the application of policies and promote best practices in HR management.
  3. Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations activities, including handling complex employee issues, grievances, disciplinary actions, and investigations. Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on employee performance management and conflict resolution.
  4. Talent Acquisition and Retention: Develop and execute effective recruitment and selection strategies to attract and retain top talent. Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions. Implement retention programs and initiatives to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  5. Compensation and Benefits: Oversee the design and administration of compensation and benefits programs. Ensure competitive and equitable compensation practices and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Monitor market trends and recommend adjustments to the compensation structure to attract and retain high-performing employees.
  6. Training and Development: Identify training and development needs within the organization and design and implement programs to address those needs. Foster a learning culture and provide resources for employees' professional growth and development.
  7. HR Analytics and Reporting: Utilize HR data and analytics to identify trends, assess HR metrics, and provide insights to inform decision-making. Prepare regular HR reports and presentations for senior management.
  8. Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and industry standards. Stay updated on changes in employment legislation and recommend necessary policy changes or updates.
  9. HR Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team, including setting performance goals, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Coach and mentor HR staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Extensive experience in HR management, with a focus on strategic HR planning, employee relations, talent acquisition, and development.
    • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to use HR data and metrics to drive insights and decision-making.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
    • Professional certifications such as PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) are a plus.
